How do I use shortcut keys (f1-f12 and numbers 1-9 shortcuts) on my laptop?

Hello,

I finally bought my second laptop, and I never bothered learning how to use shortcut keys on my first laptop. I was wondering how do I use shortcut keys for numbers 1-9 and f1-f12 shortcuts?

I am using a Toshiba laptop, but I am pretty sure that this should apply to all laptops...

I tried ctrl + shortcutey and I tried shift+shortcutkey

Thanks|||If you mean the off colored symbols on the F1-12 keys, and the right side of the keyboard, you press the Fn key (just right of the left control on mine). Fn+Numlock will put the keyboard into "Numeric" mode, were the right keys become the numeric keypad.

If you mean use F1-12 normally, that is up to the OS or your application software.
