Ferrari supplies F1 engines to Torro Rosso but is it the same engine as that Ferrari uses?

Ferrari supplies F1 engines to Torro Rosso but is it the same engine as that Ferrari uses or is it an old model. The same goes for Mclaren and Brawn sharing the same engines. Does Mclaren get the superior engine or is it all equal?|||The customer spec engines as they are known, are pretty much identical to that of the factory teams engines, but they are bought of the shelf essentially, without the level of support and development a factory team would have, ie you will always see Norbert Haug (boss of Mercedes motor sport) at the McLaren garage, not at the Brawn garage. As Stuart said the latest updates will always go to the main team first then filter down to the customer teams.

Good question, hope this helps.|||As the engine specs are frozen and upgrades can only be applied if there is a reliability problem I'd expect the engine is the same. The only people who know definitely though are Ferrari.|||its basicaly the same, not exactly and not 100% up-to-date but its close, the chassi is what makes the most difference though|||Like someone has said. It's the same engine but without the back up and testing of the manufacturer that it comes from.|||Toro Rosso uses an old model of Ferrari engines.|||Think its all equal really, but if Ferrari pull out like they are threatening, who will torro rosso use?|||Yes it's the same engine, but ferrari has more money so they can do a better job upgrading the engine if need be.|||Same engines, but not with the latest updates.|||I understood it was last season's engine.|||what allen said
